G. Lamar Smith Jr. is a life long resident of Atlanta Georgia. He has a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University. He received his Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Smith clerked with Justice Robert Benham of the Georgia Supreme Court. He also was a member of the International Moot Court team and the Student Trial Lawyers Association Mock Trial Team.
After law school, Mr. Smith clerked for Hon. John E. Girardeau of the Superior Court of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia. Mr. Smith also previously worked for a large insurance defense firm in Marietta, Georgia before forming the Lamar Law Firm, LLC in 2007.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Georgia Bar, Trial Lawyers Association of America, Gate City Bar Association, and is a board member of the Atlanta Council of Younger Lawyers.
